Statement: We Welcome PM Farm Animal Welfare Commitment

17/03/2017

We warmly welcome the Prime Minister’s commitment this week to maintaining the UK’s high farm animal welfare standards.

The UK’s food and farming sectors must remain at the forefront of meeting consumer concerns and expectations about how farm animals should be reared.

We believe wherever possible we should also look for opportunities to strengthen and improve EU animal welfare standards.

The UK’s food and farming sectors must remain at the forefront of meeting consumer concerns and expectations about how farm animals should be reared. It will be even more important to retain this reputational advantage for our food products as we seek new trade deals around the world.
