Gilbert M. Sape
Global Head of Campaign - Wildlife. Not Medicine.
I joined World Animal Protection in April 2015. Over the years, I’ve been working with a dedicated global team to end the use of wildlife in traditional medicine.
Bears and tigers are close to my heart. I’ve witnessed first-hand how bears suffer in captivity in Vietnam – some have been confined in the same tiny cages for over a decade
In Thailand, I’ve seen hundreds of tigers, drugged and chained, used in entertainment venues. Chances are, they will spend the rest of their lives there, a far cry from their natural lives in the wild.
Despite the availability of plant-based or synthetic alternatives, there’s still a demand for wildlife in traditional medicine.
Together with our supporters, I believe we have the power to change the narrative of these majestic animals.
