Animal welfare during the Ukraine crisis

News

The situation unfolding in Ukraine is terrifying for both people and animals. Animals are often the innocent forgotten victims in times of crisis.

Pet owners are often forced to make the distressing decision to abandon their pets. There are also heart-breaking images emerging of people fleeing the country, many with their beloved pets in tow which can be extremely traumatic.

Steve McIvor, CEO, World Animal Protection said:
“The situation unfolding in Ukraine is terrifying for both people and animals. Our thoughts are with all those affected by this tragic situation.

“Animals are often the forgotten victims in times of crisis, but they also suffer immensely.

“We stand in solidarity with animal organisations providing vital support on the ground in this terrible crisis.”
