Letter to the British Prime Minister and Foreign Secretary

Today we have sent a joint-letter, in association with the charities Compassion in World Farming and the RSPCA, to both the British Prime Minister and Foreign Secretary.

In this letter we appeal to them on behalf of the British animal welfare charity Nowzad, who are based in Kabul, Afghanistan.

Our CEOs strongly urge them to effect the safe evacuation from Kabul of all of Nowzad’s staff, their families and the animals in their shelter as a matter of urgency.

A copy of the letter can be found here.

Steve McIvor, Chief Executive of World Animal Protection, said: The tragic events in Afghanistan mean that the lives of 200 dogs and cats and staff at British animal welfare charity Nowzad are currently in critical danger in Kabul. We urge the British Prime Minister to do all he can do to arrange the safe evacuation of the staff and animals at the earliest possible opportunity.
