Xamã, a jaguar cub is rescued and transported to the veterinarian in a metal crate.

Animal welfare successes this January

News

We had some great successes this January to kick start a new year. Here are some examples of how you helped.

You helped Xamã the jaguar move to a rehabilitation centre to prepare for life in the wild

Our Wildlife team completed the mission to monitor, support and document the 12-hour-long transfer of Xamã (Shaman), an eight-month jaguar cub, from his veterinary hospital to a rehabilitation facility. He has already been roaming and becoming familiar with his surroundings.

You keep helping higher welfare elephant venues in Asia

Since the pandemic saw tourism come to a grinding halt, many of the higher welfare elephant venues saw funding fall and struggled to stay afloat. Thankfully, your generous support is continuing to pay for food and veterinary treatments to dozens of elephants.

You helped Cecilia and her best friend Darlan prepare for release into the wild

Cecilia the anteater was another victim of the Brazil fires. Since being rescued, she has been recovering and adjusting to everyday life, and has become best friends with another anteater called Darlan. They have recently been released back into the wild.

You sent over 600 emails to the travel companies that are failing wildlife

Our #RealResponsibleTravel campaign launched and raised awareness towards the laggard companies that are still profiting from captive animal entertainment. The public have responded and over 600 emails have been sent within the UK alone.
