Animal welfare successes in March
News
You helped us support animal welfare around the world in March 2022.
March was another busy month for animal protectors all over the world. 🙌🏻
Here are just some of our achievements for animals last month:
🦠You urged the Government of India to combat antimicrobial resistance
Our India team co-hosted a talk on the ‘Colloquium on State Action Plans on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in India 2022’ alongside The World Health Organization’s (WHO) India office and ReAct Asia Pacific. During the event, we highlighted how animal farming is the hidden reason behind the AMR crisis and needs to be included in ongoing AMR discussions in India.
🐬You moved a leading Chinese travel company to be wildlife-friendly
Chinese travel company QYER.com have confirmed that all their travel brands will not promote or sell wildlife entertainment products - including all relevant venues and hotels. This follows their 2018 commitment to be an elephant-friendly force in the local industry.
🐮You called on politicians and the dairy industry in Sweden to end cruel cow and calf separation
We launched a campaign in Sweden to ask politicians, milk producers and traders to end cruel cow and calf separation. Early separation is a clear example of farmed animals not being allowed to live lives according to their natural behaviours.
🌽You promoted just, sustainable, and humane food systems in South Asia
We co-hosted with the organization 50by40 the virtual summit on ‘Just Protein Transition in Asia: Pathways to COP27 and beyond’. The summit was an opportunity to unite civil society organisations working across the protein system in Asia.
🐘You raised awareness in Africa on the need to end cruel exploitation of wildlife
Our Africa team held a webinar dubbed ‘Trading to Extinction’, to mark World Wildlife Day. This online seminar raised awareness on the need to end cruel exploitation of wildlife and discussed the problem and actions that are needed to end the cruel wildlife trade forever.
🌱You promoted meat and dairy-free lifestyles in the Netherlands
Our Danish team partnered with the National Week Without Meat foundation and encouraged people to go meat and dairy free to help transform the food system.
