BAFTA award-winning broadcaster, Gail Porter, joins World Animal Protection as UK Ambassador

News

We’re thrilled to announce BAFTA award-winning broadcaster and lifelong animal lover Gail Porter as our new UK Ambassador.

Gail has already been supporting our campaigns - speaking out against the cruelty of factory farming and the exploitation of wild animals in entertainment. Now, she’s officially joining our Ambassador family to help drive change for animals everywhere.

“Animals don’t have a voice - but I do,” said Gail. “I believe in a world where no animal suffers or experiences cruelty and where they are treated with kindness and respect. I am looking forward to becoming a World Animal Protection Ambassador and working towards a future when this will happen.”

Gail will be shining a spotlight on the cruelty behind factory farms, tourism, and the wildlife trade and calling for action.

World Animal Protection, UK Country Director, Ruth Tanner said:

“Gail is a fantastic supporter of World Animal Protection campaigning with us for the animals we help. We are so incredibly proud that she has agreed to become a UK celebrity Ambassador. Animals need all of us to protect them from suffering, cruelty and exploitation.”

Speaking up for animals

In a short video for World Animal Protection, Gail highlights the suffering faced by billions of farmed and wild animals:

Pigs, cows and chickens are crammed into factory farms, mutilated without pain relief, and treated like machines,” she said.

“There is a different but equal devastation done to the lives of wild animals. Dolphins are forced to perform, monkeys made to dance, elephants beaten for tourist rides. It’s cruelty, disguised as entertainment.”

Gail is calling on the public to speak out by pushing for stronger laws and boycotting exploitative attractions.

“Change starts when we choose to see animals as someone, not something,” she said. “Animals need our protection. So let’s use our voices.”

Supporting our campaigns

As UK Ambassador, Gail will be lending her voice to some of World Animal Protection’s most urgent campaigns. She’s standing with us in calling for an end to factory farming - where animals like pigs, cows and chickens are routinely subjected to overcrowding, mutilation without pain relief, and lives of intense confinement.

Gail is also supporting our work to protect wild animals from exploitation, including calling out travel companies like TUI that continue to promote cruel attractions where dolphins are forced to perform in tanks for entertainment.

We’re proud to have Gail on board and excited to work together for a future where animals are treated with compassion and respect.
