A lifelong love for animals and a legacy of compassion

What do five boxer dogs, two Maine Coon cats, and a mixed-breed round-bellied cat have in common? At one time or another, they’ve all been part of Susan’s family.

“Animals give me joy, peace, and lots of funny experiences,” she says.

Susan has loved and cared for animals all her life. So when it came to writing her Will, it was only natural that protecting animals would become part of her legacy.

“It’s important to me that my inheritance goes to a worthy organisation and a cause that means a lot to me. World Animal Protection helps animals worldwide. All those ugly things you read about — how terribly animals are treated. Whether it’s elephants in India, lion cubs in Africa, or whales being kept captive, they cover all these issues and make a huge difference.”

Here at World Animal Protection, a third of our work is funded by gifts in Wills from caring, committed people like Susan. It’s thanks to these incredible supporters that we can keep fighting to end animal suffering — now and long into the future.

“It was super easy. And I was very relieved that I’d finally done something I’d put off for a little too long,” Susan admits.

Her message to other supporters?

“There are so many animals in the world suffering terribly. If you have the opportunity to leave a gift to World Animal Protection, I really think you should do it.”

The image shows a large elephant standing in a grassy, wooded area with a lush forest in the background. The elephant is facing the camera, and its trunk is curled upwards, holding some long, leafy vegetation.
