Remembering Pauline Minton

Blog

In 1981, after seeing the shocking revelations in “The Animals Film”, Pauline embraced veganism and remained vegan for the rest of her life.

She had always loved cats, and been interested in animal welfare, having given Joya (her eldest daughter) petitions against seal-hunting and whaling to take to school, but now she also began helping with fund-raising for animal charities, giving generously from her income, holding many adoptions of animals from owls, to pigs and donkeys, to tigers, and attending demonstrations for various causes.

In her fifties, Pauline took the plunge and learned to scuba dive in the bracing waters of Bouley Bay. Here, she stands in her wetsuit beside a friend.

Pauline was a nurse, and she loved travel, singing and swimming. Her younger daughter, Paula, describes her as “fearless.”   In her fifties, Pauline even learned to scuba dive, in the cold waters of Bouley Bay, gaining advanced open water skills, and going on a night dive, and later, diving in the Red Sea.  She died on the morning of 11 September 2025, with Paula by her side.
