Balkasar Bear Sanctuary

Tucked away in rural Pakistan, the Balkasar Bear Sanctuary is a peaceful refuge for bears who have endured unimaginable suffering. It was created to give rescued bears a chance to live out their lives in safety and comfort.

Many of the bears at Balkasar were exploited for entertainment – forced to fight in baiting events or perform on the streets. Traumatised and unable to return to the wild, they now receive the care they need in a calm and natural environment.

At Balkasar, 68 bears are provided with spacious enclosures, nutritious food, fresh water, and regular veterinary treatment. The dedicated sanctuary team ensures each bear gets the physical and emotional care needed to heal and thrive.
