A tiger kept in a cage in an undisclosed location

Help put an end to cruel wildlife tourism.

Today only around 5,575 tigers remain in the wild. 100 years ago, that number was 100,000

Right now, an estimated 550,000 wild animals are being exploited to entertain holidaymakers around the world. Taken from the wild or bred in captivity, they are beaten, chained and abused as part of the lucrative global trade in wildlife tourism.

Every day, tigers suffer at the hands of wildlife tourism, breeding farms and the illegal wildlife trade.

Their lives are reduced to commodities. Around 12,000 are held in cruel captivity worldwide, many bred for profit.

Older tigers may be killed and traded for their body parts used in traditional medicine, or turned into clothing, jewellery or ornaments while tiny cubs are torn from their mothers at just two or three weeks old to be exploited for tourist entertainment. Chained and maybe even drugged, they are passed from one person to the next, living props for social media photos.

As they grow and are no longer considered “cute”, they are trained for circus-style shows, forced to perform unnatural tricks. It’s not just tigers. Hundreds of thousands of wild animals are exploited for entertainment worldwide.

Wild animals belong in the wild, not in shows or photo opportunities.

When animals are forced to entertain people, they suffer, often out of sight. If you can hug, ride, touch, wash or take a photo with a wild animal, there is a very high chance that animal has been harmed.

With your regular support, we can challenge cruelty, expose abuse and protect animals from exploitation. Every monthly gift helps us confront the wildlife tourism industry and drive lasting change.

Take action now. Give monthly. Protect wild animals.

Why your gift matters

A monthly gift allows us to plan for the future and help more animals.

When you start a monthly donation, you’ll join a passionate group of supporters who are determined to change the world for animals. World Animal Protection is working hard to stop the cruel exploitation of animals in the wild, animals in farming, wildlife trade and animals used in traditional medicine.

If you can spare even a few pounds a month, your kindness will help keep our vital work going and make a huge difference for animals worldwide.
