URGENT: Orphaned Bear Cubs Need Your Help

In just weeks’ time, hundreds of bears could be killed—and their cubs left to face the wild forest alone. Up to 426 bears are expected to be killed in 2025, with an additional 55 at risk in emergency situations.
Romania’s bear hunting season starts on 1st August. As mother bears are killed, their cubs will be left defenceless—starving, frightened, and alone. So far this year, 5 bears have already been rescued and brought to the safety of Libearty sanctuary, Europe’s largest bear sanctuary near Zarnesti in Romania and our partner for the last 20 years. But space is running out.
Unless a new enclosure is built in time, there will be nowhere for the next orphaned cubs to go. BOLD
Without intervention, the cubs could face a brutal fate: death from starvation, attacks by predators, or a life in captivity and exploitation.
The plans are in place and the materials are ready. The new enclosure will cost over £60,000 to build – and this doesn’t include the costs of rescue or ongoing care. Will you help make sure construction can begin immediately?
The new enclosure could house up to 5 new cubs at Libearty, will cover between 3500-4500 square meters and have a new pool for the cubs to relax and play in. It will take around 2 months to build, so every minute is crucial.
