Help End Bear Bile Farming in Vietnam — Forever

Donate now

The countdown to freedom is on

With just 190 bears still trapped in Vietnam’s bear bile farms, we’re closer than ever to ending this industry for good. For decades, bears in Vietnam have suffered behind bars — trapped in tiny cages, broken in body and spirit. While bile extraction is banned, legal loopholes allow bears to be kept if they’re microchipped. The system is abused. Many are still living in pain. Now, with your support, we have the chance to change their future and close this cruel chapter forever.

Thanks to supporters like you, bears like Na have already found safety — but for the 190 still trapped, the suffering continues.

Na was discovered during one of our regular inspection visits. She had spent 20 years locked in a cage — missing a paw, her teeth shattered, her fur rubbed bare by rusted bars. She had watched, helpless, as the other five bears on her farm died. The torment she endured was unimaginable — but not uncommon.

Across Vietnam, bears are still hidden behind farm gates. Many are held illegally. Some have never seen daylight. Others rock back and forth, showing signs of extreme psychological distress. They’ve spent years — even decades — in cages so small they can’t even turn around.

Most of the remaining bears are in one province, Hanoi. With your support, inspection teams can continue visiting farms, identifying unregistered bears, and urging owners to release them. Each visit brings these bears one step closer to the sanctuary care they urgently need — and brings the bear bile industry closer to its end.

46 out of Vietnam’s 63 provinces now totally free of bear farm. Together, we can bring it to zero.
