World Animal Protection's Weekly Lottery is a draw which takes place every week. Each ticket gives you the chance of winning one of our four fantastic cash prizes. Each entry costs just £1.

Why are you running a lottery?

A lottery is a fun and engaging way for us to raise funds. It is promoted and run to help raise essential funds to help animals around the world.

How much will you receive?

We receive 50p from every entry which is 100% of the profits. The remaining 50p goes towards the cost of lottery administration and prize funds. This is an extremely cost effective way for us to raise funds for animals.

Is the lottery legal?

Yes, the lottery is run in compliance with all Gambling Commission (the UK regulatory body concerned with lotteries) requirements and we adhere to the legal requirements of the Gambling Act 2005. World Animal Protection licence number: 4984. The lottery is also administered by a certified External Lottery Manager. Check our rules for more information.

You'll be given your own unique six-digit lottery number(s). Each week the winning six digit number will be generated by Sterling’s Random Number Generator. The aim is to match the sequence of the winning number.

  • Six matching digits - £25,000 prize
  • Five matching digits - £1,000 prize
  • Four matching digits - £25 prize
  • Three matching digits - 5 entries into the next draw

You can buy tickets through our website by setting up a Direct Debit lottery subscription, which is the easiest way to ensure you're entered into the draw each month.

Can I have more than one entry?

Each £1 entry buys you one 'chance' of winning in our lottery. We offer a maximum of two entries each week per person.

How long can I play for?

You can play for as long as you wish. Following successful payment, you will continue to be entered into the draw as long as you have monies available against your number.

Can I choose my lottery numbers?

No, we regret that you cannot. Your numbers are chosen randomly and will be your numbers for the duration of your membership. When you enter, you will be sent your unique numbers.

You must be aged 18 or over to enter the Lottery.

Once the draw has taken place, winners are notified by post within two weeks of the draw taking place, and the winning numbers are published on our website.

Yes, there has been a slight change to the way the draw is administered. The winning six-digit number is now generated by Sterling’s Random Number Generator and is drawn every Friday and the winning numbers will be published on our website the following Monday. This hasn’t in any way changed the prizes or how you are notified of winning.

The monthly cost breakdown of £4.34 is based on paying £1 per week over a 52 week year. Direct Debits are only collected once monthly. Sometimes there will be five weeks in a month and the additional 34p is to build up credit to cover the fifth week on the five-week months.

Are my entries eligible for Gift Aid?

Unfortunately, we cannot claim Gift Aid on funds raised through the lottery.

Payments are run on a secure payment system provided by Unity. This ensures your details are taken in a safe and secure manner.

What happens if I lose my internet connection while entering?

We advise you to call the Unity on 0370 050 9240 and they will be able to confirm whether or not a payment was taken successfully.

Following registration it is necessary to complete a number of administrative processes which include verifying your payment details with your bank, claiming the funds from your bank account and the funds being received.

We may use your data for carefully considered purposes and send you postal mailings. Unity is a common brand lottery jointly promoted by Sterling Management Centre and individual society lotteries. Each lottery operated under the Unity brand is a separate licenced lottery, operated by and supporting a particular good cause. This particular lottery is in support of World Animal Protection.
