Wild animals don’t belong to us, they belong in the wild

COVID-19 is a wakeup call for the world – and the case for a global wildlife trade ban has never been more urgent. The pandemic has shown that zoonotic diseases are an ever-present threat. With 70% of zoonotic emerging infectious diseases thought to originate from wildlife we believe it is time to end the commercial trade and thus drastically reduce the chances of future zoonotic pandemic outbreaks.

World Animal Protection is leading the Campaign to End Wildlife Trade, a coalition of 25 of the UK’s leading animal welfare and wildlife conservation groups, calling on the UK government to champion an end to the international trade in wild animals and wild animal products for commercial purposes at the upcoming meeting of G20 leaders in November. We invite you to join us at a virtual Parliamentary reception to discuss this important campaign and show your support for the UK Government to take action at the G20 to prevent future zoonotic pandemics.
